Network and connection issues



To check the power connection and reset the printer
1. Make sure the power cord is firmly connected to the printer.
2. Look at the Power button located on the printer. If it is not lit, the printer is turned off. Press the Power
button to turn on the printer.
3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
5. Wait at least 15 seconds.
6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
8. If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn on the printer.
9. Try using the printer again.

To resolve print issues (OS X and macOS)
1. Check for error messages and resolve.
2. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.
3. Verify that the product is not paused or oƱine.
To verify that the product is not paused or oƱLne
a. In System Preferences, click Printers & Scanners .
b. Click the Open Print Queue button.
c. Click a print job to select it.
Use the following buttons to manage the print job:
● Delete: Cancel the selected print job.
● Hold: Pause the selected print job.
● Resume: Continue a paused print job.
● Pause Printer: Pause all print jobs in the print queue.
d. If you made any changes, try to print again.
4. Restart the computer.

Fix print quality issues
To improve print quality (Windows)
1. Make sure you are using original HP cartridges.
2. Check the paper type.
For best print quality, use high quality HP paper, or papers that adhere to the ColorLok® standard. For more information,

c. In the printer software, under Print & Scan , in the Print section, click Maintain Your Printer to
access the printer toolbox.
d. Click Print Diagnostic Information on the Device Reports tab to print a diagnostics page.
7. Review the blue, magenta, yellow, and black boxes on the diagnostics page. If you are seeing streaks in the color and black boxes, or no ink in portions of the boxes, then clean the printhead.
To clean the printhead from the printer software
a. Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
b. Open the HP printer software. For more information, see Open the HP printer software (Windows)
c. In the printer software, under Print & Scan , in the Print section, click Maintain Your Printer to
access the printer toolbox.
d. Click Clean Printheads on the Device Services tab. Follow the onscreen instructions.
8. If cleaning the printhead does not solve the problem, contact HP support.

c. Select your printer from the list of devices at the left of the window.
